Managing help topic comments

You can view, add, and reply to comments submitted for a topic.

This is only for comments about the online help. If you have questions or concerns regarding the application itself, please contact (missing or bad snippet) product support.

  • Community-wide comments – You can enter a comment that may be viewed (and replied to) by all other users viewing the Help.
  • Author-only comments – An end user can enter a comment that is intended for the Help author only. Each author-only comment is tied to a particular topic and works hand-in-hand with the topic ratings feature. Whereas, community-wide comments are seen by everyone in the output, an author-only comment can be accessed only from the Feedback Explorer. Therefore, only the Help author can view it.
  • Topic ratings – You can rate the currently shown topic by clicking on half of one of five stars in the toolbar. Whereas community-wide comments are seen by everyone in the output, only the Help author can see your rating.

  1. Open the topic you want to rate.
  2. On the toolbar button, click on the half of the star that best reflects your rating of the topic. The right half of the right-most star is the best rating. The left half of the left-most star is the worst most rating.

    The system sends your rating to the Help author. The rating you give to the topic is averaged with the ratings given by other users and can be seen in the toolbar when you open the topic.

  1. Open the topic for which you want to view comments.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the topic.

    All comments for the topic appear in the Topic Comments area at the bottom of the topic.

    If this is the first time you are adding comments, you must complete a feedback service profile.

  3. In the Subject box, type the subject for your comments.
  4. In the Comment box, type the comments you want to add for the topic.
  5. Click Submit.

    The system sends your comments to the feedback server. After your comments are approved by the moderator, the system shows your comments in the Topic Comments area.

  1. Open the topic for which you want to reply to comments.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the topic.

    All comments for the topic appear in the Topic Comments area at the bottom of the topic.

  3. In the Subject box, type the subject for your comments.
  4. In the Comment box, type the comments you want to add for the topic.
  5. Click Submit.

    The system sends your comments to the feedback server. After your comments are approved by the moderator, the system shows your reply in the Topic Comments area.
