Application Side Bar

An application side bar contribution is a menu entry on the application side bar. The menu is associated with a command that is executed when end-users select it. The command opens the assistant tools panel and runs an embedded assistant tool application. (End-users refer to a view window as an assistant tools panel, and they refer to the embedded application within the view as an assistant tool.) The intended purpose of the assistant tool is to assist end-users when they are using Sabre emulator in a corresponding editor. Therefore, it is recommended that you limit the visibility of this type of menu contribution by adding rules for the corresponding command. Your rules should make the application side bar menu contribution visible only when the corresponding editor is opened. Creating Basic Menu Contributions shows several implementations of the rules.
